Summer days lengthen slowly
Inviting sun and warmth to stay awhile
And linger lovingly upon our waiting earth.
Now we will bask and stretch ourselves
Reflecting all the glory that surrounds us,
And drink it in before it fades away.
Ah, winter you sit waiting in the wings
Looking on, a cold and heartless carer.
You cannot spoil what summer has bestowed.
Your gloomy, suffocating hold is broken,
Now Summer watches over us and loves us more than you did!
All living things emerge and sigh in mutual satisfaction,
Life itself rejoicing over life!
And life gives birth to life
For it has tasted what it means to live!
Now Summer looks upon her newborn children
And smiles a smile of quiet, deep contentment.

AAAhhhh....summer...warm, inviting, I can just about reach out for it now...The smells, and tastes and summer sounds....
ReplyDeleteI just love that the days are getting longer now and that the sun is starting to warm and melt the coldness and iciness of winter...Even though there is a mighty covering of snow still...Spring is definitely in the air...and after spring comes summer....
Beautiful! Felt the sweetness of summer peeking out from its secret hidingplace for a little while:)
